Minnesota Against Online Gambling Sites

Friday, June 5th, 2009

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety has begun a plan against online gambling sites. They tried to make Internet Service Provides to block the access to gambling sites through the internet.

The representative Pat Garofalo affirmed that this could be a great day for Internet freedom. In the spirit of cooperation and in recognition of the rescission of these notices he’s more than happy to withdraw his bill and in its place sponsor a discussion aimed at establishing a framework for regulating and licensing the online gaming industry.

The poker players had their own members in Minnesota who knew that this type of Internet ban wouldn’t be accepted.
In this decision took a very important place the Interactive Media Entertainment Gaming Association.

They also have more than 15,000 members in Minnesota, making Garofalo to change his stance on Internet gambling.

The  Representative Barney Frank has proposed two bills (one which could stop these rules and the other not) and a legislation that would overturn the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act .

Minnesota Republican Says Censoring Online Gambling Is An Action Communists Would Support

Saturday, May 9th, 2009

Republicans are presumed to be against Internet gambling. But one Republican state Representative in Minnesota says censoring online gambling from the Internet is an action Communists would support.

Pat Garafolo says the Minnesota Department of Public Safety should have more important business than worrying about some guy playing online poker in his basement.

Pat Garafolo also said: “I have serious concerns about government banning access to websites. This is the kind of thing they do in communist China, not the United States of America,”.

The ISPs have shown no inclination to recognize the state order.

Gaming analysts note the FCC goof and the haphazard and inexplicable decisions on which sites were included on the list, and have concluded the effort was not well thought out.
